Another one is not seeing Dr.Kashinath Ghanekar acting on stage !!
In this case,unfortunately I never got that opportunity…I remember seeing him in a marathi movie “Ha khel savalanchya” at Plaza theatre,a hit suspense thriller,and as a child I was quite impressed by his personna and acting skills.
The Superstar of Marathi dramas who ruled the stage during 1960-80,single handedly by his acting calibre, dialogue delivery and charm!!
A biopic on him was due,and the whole team has done justice to it, I must say!!
Subodh bhave has successfully donned in the past,the great Tilak and Bal Gandharv on the silver screen.
Here he does it brilliantly again, delivers to fans of Dr.Kashinath and the younger generation who are probably not much aware about him a glimpse into the story of the rise and fall of a star,hunger for acting, emotional battles he fought,and his bad vices,wrong attitude and the price he ultimately pays for it!
Bhave is amply supported by all experienced co- stars,soothing “Indradhanu” and flashback of “Pinjra” songs.Vaidehi who plays his second wife,must say,has a great future ahead.
Director has succeeded in keeping the long drama of 2.40 hours,under leash here,else it was possible of turning it into a melodrama.
A must watch for marathi drama lovers and I would recommend it to all others for a fine cinematic experience.
Nice to see the houseful theaters for a marathi flick!
Also its high time for all good marathi movies to have proper subtitles and better promotional coverage and tactics.
