Korigad

Maharashtra gives you loads of opportunities to discover its abundance of hill forts and our “Bhatkanti” group of schoolmates, caught “Korigad” this time at end of the monsoon season here!

Situated bang opposite the famous but now almost abandoned Aambey Valley city,at Lonavala,it is one of the easiest trek to do.

We left early morning by road to reach, peth shahapur a small village, the base of the fort. You can park your vehicle here and get a guide for the journey. We were lucky to get a small bundle of joy as our guide who enlightened us with his stories about history, mythology and information about the fort!!

Yash our smart guide..

Base of the Fort..

The journey upwards takes around one hour and the pathway through forest is followed by old steps about 630 which lead us to the top,(About 3028ft.above sea level).

It has two lovely ponds, surrounded with lovely flowers, the outer boundary of the fort is quite intact and offers beautiful views of valley down below.

It has few temples and well kept cannons on display too.The air around is very fresh and you don’t feel like leaving the place at all..
